It is a mushroom with a semi-spherical or flat cap and a cylindrical stem, usually white. The cap measures five to twelve centimetres in diameter, and is initially hemispherical and then becomes flat-convex. The cuticle is white with darker fibrils and scales, and becomes creamy when ripe. The gills are uneven, pink at first and then chocolate brown. The stem is cylindrical and white with a ring at the top that disintegrates easily. The flesh is white with pink tones when cut, with a pleasant flavour and barely perceptible odour.
