LETTUCE

The different types of lettuce form the genus Lactuca and belong to the Asteraceae family. The shape is more or less rounded depending on the variety and, in general, they are green, although some varieties have whitish or even reddish or brown leaves. The inner leaves of the lettuce heads are yellowish and the flavour is soft, pleasant and fresh, making them suitable and appreciated for raw consumption, usually in salads.
